Kim Delaney was an American actress from America. The actress is best known because of her part as detective Diane Russell, in the ABC show NYPD Blue. For this she was awarded an Emmy Award. Her credits comprise All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was the only daughter of an United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a household worker. She grew up in a family which included four brothers. She dreamed of becoming a court reporter in her early years, but began modeling in high school and eventually gaining commercials after moving to New York. Her first film role was as a teenager in All My Children, a soap-opera from 1981. Delaney was in numerous of television shows, films and dramatics since then. Similar to her profession however, her private life has not been happy or successful. She has been in the past gifted actress was struggling to overcome alcoholism and had two marriages fall apart. In 2005, the actress lost custody over her only son.
