Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) better known by her stage title Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist associated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. On October 21, 2016 she dropped Pho, her first EP for the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she began to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks to the Internet in 2012 after she dropped her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. The singer continued uploading her tracks online through 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat It Out. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's reference. Then, later in the season, the music circulated throughout Dreamville. The news was released on December 8 that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she co-wrote with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 21, 2016, she dropped her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed as part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening artist. In 2018, she was able to appear on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it was released on September 5th. On November 9 the singer released two new singles, the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. She then released on the 13th of November, two brand new singles titled The No One and pedigree. She was featured with Cole in her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16th, and released the song as a single by herself to the album she released her debut. The 20th of February, 2019, a music video was released to promote the song. It already has more than three million views on YouTube within the debut week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
